The blind contour drawings were hard because I couldn't look at my paper or pick my pen up off the paper. My blind drawings of my hand turned out much better than i thought they would turn out. The fingers looked good but the proportions were really weird. The modified drawings were still hard for me because I can't draw as good when i cant pick up my pen/pencil. I still saw an improvement in the proportions though. It is also really hard to draw the little lines in your hands when drawing the blind contour hand because i can't look back at my paper and i lose track of where i was, causing the whole hand to look out of proportion. The modified was still a lot easier because you can see how well the hand is sized and you can add a lot more detail without it looking un proportioned.
I really enjoyed drawing the contour line backpack because there are a lot of curved lines which makes the drawing look really fluid. It is also a fun draw because there are so many details in it that you have to add but it makes it look much better in the end. At the beginning of the drawing i didn't think that the bag would be proportioned correctly because it's kind of hard to get the shape of it, but it actually turned out much better than i thought it would.
1. Yes i used a fluid lines because you can see on my drawings how everything is connected by a line and there are no "floating" objects. You can also see how all of my lines are solid and you don't see sketchy lines .
2. Me knowing the best paths and routes to create my drawing without taking my pen off the paper is what contributed to the success of my piece. Also being able to get all of the angles right so that the drawing doesn't look "2D".
3. Contour line drawing go in and out of the middle of the drawing while outline drawing draws the basic outline of the drawing first and then goes in for the details.
4. My interpretation of line is essential in capturing the look of the room because i have to know what angles and slants i need to draw the line in order to actually make the room look like a room.
5. From completing this drawing i learned how much harder contour line drawing is than ordinary drawing because you can't pick your pen to make all of your lines precise, you have to work with what you've got. Something i would do differently next time is make the perspective part of the room drawn better.

The drawing above is a sphere and a rectangular prism drawn with a charcoal pencil. i felt like i did a good job at shading the sphere and the rectangular prism but the hard part for me was drawing the shadows. Something about it just looks plain and i couldn't really figure out what it was. If i could get the shading down i think that these drawings would look much better.
This drawing is of the paper ribbon that I taped to the paper by using a white charcoal pencil. I liked this drawing a lot because it is side by side with the actual ribbon so it is easier to draw all of the shadows and get a better perspective of the object. It was a little hard to find the right tone to shade the shadow of the ribbon that is off the paper but other then that this drawing was pretty fun.
The three drawings of the fabric that i did on different colored paper with different types of charcoal pencils was really cool. I had a little trouble drawing with the charcoal pencil on the white paper because it smudged a lot and i couldn't seem to put the shadows in the right spot to make it more realistic. On the black paper with the white charcoal my drawing got much better but the only thing wrong was that on some parts of the drape i put shadows where the shouldn't have been put and it doesn't look super realistic. When i drew on the brown paper with the white charcoal pencil i was really happy with my results. The shading of the the drapes looked really good to where you could see where the drape folded over itself and how it sagged. I was also glad that there was pretty much no smudging on that one too so that made it look much better. i had the most fun with drawing on the brown paper with the white charcoal pencil so that is what i plan on using for my final piece.
Above is a value scale and a triangular prism that i drew with a charcoal pencil. I like the charcoal pencil because it is really easy to blend and shade in. I also like it because you can make the value really dark, but you can also make it very light depending on how hard you press down on the pencil. The only thing that i don't like about the pencil is that it smudges a lot because i am left handed and my hand smudges the drawing and makes it look blurry.
When drawing with the prisma and the white charcoal i really prefer to use the white charcoal because it is softer and a lot easier to go from dark shading to a really bright white. When using the prisma to shade from light to dark, you really have to press down as hard as you can to get the light tone of white. Even when doing that the white isn't near as bright as when you softly press down with the white charcoal. That's why i like the white charcoal much better because you don't have to press down as hard to get what you want out of you pencil.
1. Yes I used a wide range of values because I colored the whitest that I could make it and then I faded it all the way into the paper.
2. My knowledge of how to shade the fabric helped me out during this piece because if I didn't know how to properly shade the creases and folds of the fabric, it would not look like fabric at all. If you don't know how to shade the piece properly then it can completely ruin the artwork.
3. When I am shading the fabric I try to press down really hard with the white charcoal pencil when I am on the outside of the crease, creating a solid white tone, and then I loosen the pressure as I go in towards the middle of the crease causing it to be darker.
4. My interpretation of texture is, the feel and appearance of a surface and this is essential in capturing the look of the object because if you don't get that smooth and wavy texture then it will look nothing like a big piece of fabric.
5. For this final the part I would recreate about is finding a different angle of the fabric because I feel that this one didn't have enough folds and creases and that doesn't look close to as good as when it has a bunch of folds.

1. My drawing has a lot of smudges and dark shadows. There are some sharp edge lines but it is mostly dark shadows. The big ribbon the the back of everything takes up a lot of the picture. Because of this I had to make sure I blended it well so that it really looks like it is behind all the objects.
2. My values are realistic because they show the depth of the object and how far away It is from the objects around it , so you want to have good value so you can tell it apart from the other objects. I had a variety of different values because there were many different kinds of shadows and colored pieces.
3. There isn’t a full source of lighting because a lot of the objects are hanging over each other and cause different shadows to appear.
4. The compositional sketches were important because they really showed me which angle and mix of objects I was the most comfortable with drawing. They also helped me practice drawing where each object would go and how I would shade it.
5. My final drawing is successful because you can tell which objects are behind or in front of one another and they all have lots of value to them. Not just one specific value.
6. The proportions, structure, and perspective of the subject are correct because I proportionally drew it right and my value really shows the perspective of the objects.
7. The placement of the objects doesn’t really make a pleasing arrangement because all of the objects are so close together sometimes it is hard to show how far away they are from each other.
8. Yes the center of interest is the bucket with all the paint brushes in it because it is in front of all the other objects and it is one of the biggest things in the drawing.
9. I managed my time well when getting this drawing done, I believe that I could have been better with the value so that some objects looked more distant than others.
10. A challenge I encountered during this projects was drawing the glass bottle because I have never really drawn glass before, but I implied all of my skills that I have with value and just went for it.
11. From drawing still life, I learned that knowing how value works is pretty much the key to drawing a successful still life drawing.
This is a drawing that I did with prisma colors and I used the layering technique to color the lights and darks in the pumpkin
This is a drawing of grapes using prisma colored pencils
This is a bottle that I drew using prisma colored pencils as well
1. I created an interesting point of view by making the sharks head bigger and his body much smaller to really show the foreshortening affect. I think it was successful because it look like the head is actually coming at you.
2. It is important to understand perspective because perspective shows where your piece is in relation to other objects in the artwork. It is important to know how to draw it because if you don’t know how to properly draw it it could mess up the perspective of your whole piece.
3. The colored pencils were important to my piece because they really made the mouth and head pop when I used a variety of colors.
4. I mainly used layering in order to get the right shade of each color and to make sure I blended them all well. I think it is technically crafter well except for the water I believe I could have done better on it.
5. I was able to achieve depth because I shaded the blue water around the shark much much darker than the rest of the water. That made the depth really show.
6. I really liked using the colored pencils because they are great with detail and shading. I didn’t like drawing the water with colored pencils because I couldn’t get that realistic look with them.
7. I feel that I was really prepared for the project and I wish I could have been taught more on how to color big blank spaces like what and make them look realistic.

This is my candy drawing that I drew using different colors of pastel.
1. I think that my craftmanship of this drawing is neat and well executed but i believe that i could have done better with the background and the shadows on it.
2. My background choice ties all three artworks together because it is the background of a kitchen tile. This ties in because the opacity pieces are all objects that you will find in a kitchen.
3. I really like drawing the red cups because I used different colors like blue in the red to help show the shadows and I feel like that is a good color to use because it makes the piece look like a more cool tone.
4. I created contrast in my drawing by going from the bright red color in the cups, to having dark shadows go over the top left corner of the piece.
5. I used smooth texture to give that plastic cup look to the solo cups and I drew I shiny texture for the blender to give it that metallic look.
6. I chose the tile background because first of all that is the actual background that was behind the cups and because it fits the whole kitchen objects theme.
7. It is very important to understand the media because if you don't it can really ruin your artwork if you don;t know how to properly use the pastel or whatever media you are using.
8. Difficulties that i had were definitely making the background tiles. This was hard because i had to color the tiles but also add shading to them. To improve my drawing i would add more value in the shadows.

1. I created guidelines with the right proportions so i had a good idea where all of the facial features go. I then drew the entire outline of my face and shaded it.
2. I found different values in the portrait by looking where the shadows are from the nose, eyes, ears, and mouth. The lighting of the picture I took also gave off where the values are.
3. I did achieve a full range of different values because I really emphasized the darks and lights.
4. I feel like my artwork is executed neatly because I made sure to have smooth transitions between values.
5. I am able to capture my look by putting my facial features in the right parts of my head and making sure that my facial structure is proportioned exactly like the picture.
6. I placed my facial features in the correct areas by using guidelines and measuring how far each feature is from the other.
7. It is important to draw the features individually because you need to take the drawing one thing at a time and making sure that they look identical to each other.
8. The placement of facial features was the most beneficial to me because where you place these features really shows if the portrait looks like what you are drawing.
9. An obstacle that I had to overcome was making my eyes the right size. They are still a little bigger than what I would liked them to be but I redid them once.

1. I chose to draw a picture of me sliding because it is a good representation of implied movement. I also did this because i love playing baseball and thought that it would be a good idea to incorporate that into my artwork.
2. I used different texture in the dust particle and my jersey wrinkles to bring out the type of texture to my piece.
3. I balanced my artwork and created a well-organized composition by making sure all the the proportions in the piece work correct and by identifying what part of the artwork is what.
4. I implied movement in my drawing by showing the dust particles come off my body as I slid into home.
5. I could improve my artwork by having better texture in the background and by putting more detail.
6. I demonstrating wide ranges of shading values by putting the shine on my helmet, and putting every individual crease on my pants.
